Introduction

# eufyMake E1 – The World’s First Personal 3D-Texture UV Printer

The **eufyMake E1** is described by the manufacturer as the world’s first personal UV printer with 3D texture printing capabilities. It brings technology that was previously found mainly in large and expensive industrial machines to the desks of creators, small businesses, and ambitious makers.

In this book, I document my own experiences with the eufyMake E1. This includes material tests, print settings, experiments, common issues, solutions, and, of course, the things that did not work perfectly on the first attempt.

This is not an official user manual. It is a personal, practical collection of real-world tests and experiences.

## What Is a UV Printer?

A UV printer prints special UV-curable ink directly onto an object or material. Immediately after the ink is applied, it is cured using ultraviolet light.

Unlike ink from a conventional inkjet printer, UV ink does not necessarily soak into the material. Instead, it hardens on the surface and forms a solid printed layer.

This makes it possible to print on a wide variety of materials, including:

* Wood
* Metal
* Acrylic
* Glass
* Ceramic
* Plastic
* Leather
* Stone
* Coated textiles
* Films and sticker materials

In addition to the standard colours cyan, magenta, yellow, and black, UV printers often use white ink.

White ink can be used as an underbase beneath coloured artwork, as a standalone print colour, or to build raised textures.

Clear varnish can also be applied. It can be used to highlight selected areas, create glossy effects, or add further visual and tactile details to the printed surface.

## How Is UV Printing Different from Conventional Printing?

A conventional printer mainly prints on paper or specially coated media. A UV printer, however, can print directly onto finished objects.

The design does not first have to be printed onto transfer film and then applied to the object. The object itself is placed inside the printer and printed directly.

This makes it possible to personalise items such as:

* Signs
* Keyrings
* Wooden boards
* Phone cases
* Pens
* Packaging
* Drinkware
* Many other blanks and finished products

Actual adhesion always depends on the material, its coating, and how the surface has been prepared.

Not every material works equally well without preparation. This is exactly why practical testing is so important.

## Conventional UV Printers

Many traditional UV flatbed printers were designed for industrial or commercial production environments.

They are often:

* Large and heavy
* Expensive to purchase
* Limited to a fixed printing area
* Maintenance-intensive
* Designed for trained operators
* Dependent on manual height and position adjustments
* Specialised for a specific type of production

Smaller desktop UV printers already existed before the eufyMake E1. However, many of them still follow the technical approach of traditional industrial machines and require considerable knowledge for setup, maintenance, and print preparation.

## What Makes the eufyMake E1 Different?

The E1 combines a compact UV flatbed printer with a modular system.

It was designed to make UV printing more accessible to small workshops, creative businesses, and home-based workspaces.

## Compact Design

Compared with many industrial UV printers, the E1 requires significantly less space.

It is designed as a desktop machine and can be operated without a dedicated production hall or professional installation.

Despite its compact design, the larger flatbed provides a printing area of approximately A3 size.

## Automatic Object Detection and Positioning

The E1 uses cameras and sensors to detect objects placed inside the printer.

This makes it easier to align the design with the blank inside the software.

The height of the object is also detected automatically. With conventional UV printers, the height, printhead distance, and position often have to be checked and adjusted more manually.

However, the automated system does not remove the need for careful preparation.

Transparent, reflective, very small, or unusually shaped objects may still require additional attention before printing.

## 3D Texture and Relief Printing

One of the most distinctive features of the E1 is its ability to create raised printed textures.

Using the technology called **Amass3D™** by eufyMake, UV ink is applied and cured in multiple layers.

This makes it possible to create:

* Tactile textures
* Raised lettering
* Brushstroke effects
* Embossed designs
* Other relief-style surfaces

According to the manufacturer, textures can reach a height of up to:

**5 mm**

The E1 therefore does more than simply add colour to a surface. It can also give the surface a physical, tactile structure.

## Modular Printing System

One of the most important features of the eufyMake E1 is its modular design.

The printing module can be changed depending on the project.

The two flatbeds are included as part of the standard printer setup. The rotary attachment, roll-to-film attachment, and UV DTF laminator are included with certain bundles or can be purchased separately.

### Mini Flatbed

The mini flatbed has a maximum printing area of:

**330 × 90 mm**

The maximum height of an object placed on the mini flatbed is:

**80 mm**

The mini flatbed supports objects weighing up to:

**1.5 kg**

It is especially suitable for smaller objects such as:

* Keyrings
* Magnets
* Coasters
* Pens
* Small signs
* Multiple small blanks

Because the mini flatbed moves entirely within the printer, the front and rear doors can remain closed during printing.

This reduces the amount of space required around the machine and keeps the printing area fully enclosed.

Multiple objects can be printed at the same time. They should be placed at least:

**5 mm apart**

The objects should also be approximately the same height.

### Standard Flatbed

The large, or standard, flatbed has a maximum printing area of:

**330 × 420 mm**

The maximum height of an object placed on the standard flatbed is:

**60 mm**

The standard flatbed supports objects weighing up to:

**1.5 kg**

It can be used for:

* Larger designs
* Boards and panels
* Signs
* Canvases
* Multiple smaller objects printed together

The standard flatbed moves out through the front and rear of the printer during operation. Both doors must therefore remain open.

Approximately:

**40 cm of free space**

should be available in front of and behind the printer.

Multiple objects should be placed at least:

**5 mm apart**

For a shared print job, the objects should ideally be made from similar materials and have approximately the same height.

Small objects can be printed on either flatbed. However, the mini flatbed is usually more practical and space-efficient for individual small items.

### Rotary Printing Attachment

The rotary printing attachment allows direct printing onto cylindrical and slightly tapered objects.

Supported object height:

**80 to 245 mm**

Supported object diameter:

**45 to 100 mm**

Tapered objects may have an angle of up to:

**13 degrees**

For mugs or cups with handles, the handle may extend approximately:

**50 mm**

beyond the outer surface of the container.

The rotary attachment is suitable for objects such as:

* Drinking bottles
* Tumblers
* Mugs
* Glasses
* Cans
* Cylindrical containers
* Slightly tapered cups

The object is rotated in a controlled manner during printing.

This allows the design to be printed around a large part of the circumference or, with suitable objects, completely around the object.

The E1 supports automatic height measurement, alignment, and positioning of the object.

In addition to standard colour printing, tactile 2.5D textures can also be created on suitable curved surfaces.

The maximum relief height is lower with rotary printing than with flatbed printing.

### Roll-to-Film Attachment

The roll-to-film attachment allows the E1 to print on longer roll-based materials.

The maximum supported material length is:

**10 m**

Official eufyMake roll materials have a width of approximately:

**300 to 305 mm**

depending on the selected material.

The attachment can be used for:

* Sticker sheets
* Long stickers
* Labels
* Posters
* Signs
* Decorative films
* Canvas prints
* UV DTF films

The material is fed through the printer from a roll.

This means the print is no longer limited to the length of the standard flatbed.

The roll-to-film attachment also includes an integrated automatic cutter.

Finished prints or individual sections can therefore be cut automatically after printing.

Depending on the selected roll material, the system can support:

* Standard 2D printing
* White ink printing
* Foil effects
* Low-profile 2.5D textures

The roll-to-film attachment is not a standalone printer.

It is used directly with the eufyMake E1 and replaces the flatbed for this printing mode.

### UV DTF Laminator

The UV DTF laminator is not a printing module installed inside the E1.

It is a separate device used to finish printed UV DTF film.

The maximum laminating width is:

**310 mm**

The maximum material thickness is:

**1 mm**

With the UV DTF process, the design is first printed onto a special carrier film using the E1.

The printed film is then laminated with a second transfer film.

The finished design can then be removed from the original carrier film and transferred onto an object.

UV DTF is especially useful for objects that cannot be printed directly because of their size, shape, or surface.

Examples include:

* Strongly curved objects
* Irregular shapes
* Large containers
* Bottles
* Glasses
* Packaging
* Housings
* Decorative objects

No heat press is required for the transfer.

The design is applied by pressing it onto the surface and then peeling away the transfer film.

Gold and silver foil effects are also possible when suitable films are used.

## Which Module Should Be Used?

The **mini flatbed** is ideal for small objects and short print jobs.

The **standard flatbed** provides the largest direct printing area and is suitable for larger panels or several blanks printed at the same time.

The **rotary attachment** is used for mugs, bottles, tumblers, and other cylindrical objects.

The **roll-to-film attachment** is designed for long prints, sticker sheets, films, and roll-based production.

The **UV DTF laminator** converts printed films into transferable UV DTF decals for objects that cannot be printed directly.

## Hard and Flexible Ink

In addition to standard hard UV ink, the E1 can also use flexible white ink.

Hard UV ink is mainly intended for rigid surfaces.

On soft or flexible materials, a rigid ink layer may crack or peel when the material is bent.

Flexible ink is intended to work better on materials that are moved, bent, or lightly compressed.

However, every material still needs to be tested individually.

## Automatic Cleaning

UV ink can cause problems inside the ink system, especially around the printhead nozzles, if it dries or is not maintained regularly.

The E1 includes an automated cleaning system called **JetClean™**.

It is designed to simplify daily maintenance and reduce the risk of blocked nozzles.

However, the printer is not completely maintenance-free.

Regular inspections, cleaning, and careful handling of the white ink are still required.

## Is the E1 Easier to Use Than a Conventional UV Printer?

In many areas, yes.

Automatic positioning, object height detection, the cleaning system, and the dedicated software significantly reduce the entry barrier.

However, the E1 is still a UV printer.

Different materials behave differently. Surfaces may need to be cleaned or pre-treated, and the same settings will not work for every blank.

Terms and processes such as:

* White underbase
* Varnish layers
* Print height
* Colour profiles
* Depth maps
* Primer

do not disappear completely because of the automated features.

The E1 makes UV printing more accessible.

It does not turn it into a completely effortless paper printer.

## What Is This Book About?

This book follows my practical work with the eufyMake E1.

I document topics including:

* Tested materials and blanks
* Surface preparation and cleaning
* Print settings
* White ink and white underbases
* Colour tests
* Relief printing and depth maps
* Varnish and gloss effects
* Adhesion problems
* Failed prints and their possible causes

This book is not only about perfect results.

Failed prints often reveal especially clearly how a setting, a material, or a specific function actually behaves.

The K-LAB is therefore not a glossy brochure.

It is a real testing laboratory.
